This term in Maths, we will be looking at fractions, shape, methods for addition and subtraction as well as how to use these to solve 'real life' problems.
Please practise times tables with your child at home as this really does have a positive effect on their ability to solve problems efficiently. You can also help them by practising telling the time and working with money.
Don’t forget to explore My Maths
In English this term, we will be looking at information texts. We will be exploring the different features, types and purposes of these. We will be identifying how non-fiction differs from fiction and how to write in this style.
We will also be focusing our learning on myths and legends to develop the detail in our writing. We will be looking at the use of more complex sentences and inclusion of adjectives and adverbs to make our fiction writing more exciting. We will also be preparing and writing our own mythical stories.
Don’t forget to explore the Bug Club:

Our topic this term is
‘Saving the World’
We are beginning by looking at where rainforests are in the world, with a focus on what products they produce in our everyday lives.
In addition, we will be visiting Whipsnade Zoo to further our understanding of adaptations and habitats of animals.
PE will be taught on Wednesdays and Fridays.
This term we are lucky enough to have Mr Maker, a football coach, come in and teach our children football. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit for both lessons and that it is suitable for going outside when cold.
Earrings should be removed for PE.
Homework is given out on a Friday and must be returned the following Wednesday. If you have any problems with homework set, please come and have a chat.
Please ensure that your child has a quiet place to complete their homework and support them when needed.
